Spring is on the way, and we’ve certainly had a spring in our step at ASL these past couple of weeks – we’re as busy as always but we’ve been having lots of fun along the way as well, here’s what we’ve been up to…..
We started March off with a fantastic day full of lots of support for ASL starting with our corporate volunteer for the day Jim whose company “Imagile” kindly lent him to us for the day and he was a great addition to the team! Well done Jim! If you’re interested in becoming a ASL corporate volunteer, do get in touch with us, we’d love to hear from you!
We also received a generous donation from Jeanette Tweedale who has never been to our Tea Room but has seen our Facebook page and very kindly offered a donation through family members – Barry & Val Beaton who often come along to support us, so thank you to Jeanette for her kindness and generosity, it was very much appreciated.
We are always so overwhelmed by the support and love we receive from everyone, thank you!
Our amazing super talented Hayley and her fantastic inclusive drama group “Youth Create” only came 2nd place in the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge at The London Palladium and what a night it was!
We are so so proud of Hayley she never ceases to amaze us with her talents and abilities. Well done to all involved in putting on such a wonderful inclusive evening with so much talent all on one stage. Yayyyy Hayley!!!
We have lovely new look menus which have really brightened up the Tea Room! and we want to say a big thank you to the wonderful Caimian for working on them for us! Aren’t they beautiful, and they’re still jam packed full of our lovely homemade bakes and makes, sweet treats, savoury snacks and hot meals, including our yummy vegan and veggie options!
We couldn’t resist having some fun on Pancake Day, and our Mark turned out to be quite a little pro when it came to having a go at some pancake tossing! You can see his impressive skills here!
We braved the cold and team ASL headed out on one of our many outings planned for this year, this trip was extra special as we got to welcome our Joanna! This was her first trip out with us, and she didn’t stop smiling – so we’re going to take that as a good sign! and we’re already looking forward to more adventures with Joanna and the rest of the gang this year!!
Many of you will know that we run a day service and the ASL Tea Room but there is also a huge social aspect to ASL outside of our opening times. We have created an extended family to all those who attend and it has changed a lot of people’s lives in so many ways, and our regular outings are just one of the social activities we offer to our young adults – no matter the weather, brrrrr!
We had our second Saturday sitting in our Tea Room, which sold out weeks in advance! Saturday’s are proving to be a big hit and very popular, so if you fancy joining us on a Saturday afternoon, we highly recommend booking early! Our second Saturday was another brilliant success, with some wonderful customers who were more than happy to join in with the entertainment and fun! Huge well done to Sasha, Hayley and Marc such an amazing fun team!
That’s all our latest news so far this month, I told you we had been busy! Don’t forget you can keep up to date with all things ASL via our Facebook page, Twitter and on Instagram!
